In 2005, I landed my first job after graduating from college. One of my responsibilities was to maintain the organization’s website, which was managed using the now-defunct Microsoft FrontPage. I didn’t have a lot of experience editing websites, but my predecessor kindly showed me the basics. I surmised that if I could lean the technology, the rest would be easy, given my newly acquired degree in English from the University of Delaware.

It’s now many years later, and I’ve organized, written, and edited content for government, higher education, and small business websites. I’ve mastered many content management systems, from Adobe Dreamweaver to WordPress. I’ve taken classes in HTML, CSS, and PHP, and I’ve earned a master’s degree in interaction design and information architecture from the University of Baltimore. The technology is no longer difficult. Rather, the challenge (and joy!) is keeping up with evolving trends, best practices, and accessibility requirements. The web has changed a lot since I edited my first site more than 15 years ago.

In 2019, I left my full-time position as a web content manager at Johns Hopkins University to start Winners Circle Creative Concepts. Every day, I help my clients produce content that is engaging and error-free.
